RetroGameCorps is a very important source of information in the world of Retro emulator Handhelds. Its creator, Rus, reviews all the new systems that appear on the market on his YouTube channel of which we are loyal subscribers, RetroGameCorps. In addition, at the same time, he creates guides on his website where you can find much more information and tutorials on all these retro consoles, and he updates them quite often.

Today he has made an update on his GarlicOs Guide for the RG35XX, and we have been pleasantly surprised to find ourselves forming part of his guide, in the Skins and Themes section for this Custom Firmware. We recommend that if you still need more information, take a look at its guide, which is one of the best you can find:https://retrogamecorps.com/2023/01/03/anbernic-rg35xx-starter-guide/

Official Firmware Update (And Backups)

Last night we discovered that there was already a new software update from the official page, dated 12-12-2022, but the download link did not work, and as it was already late we left it to try again today.
When entering the firmware download page again, we have found a new update, dated 12-23-2022, and the link works correctly, so we will try to download it and test it, making a backup copy of the original that bring, in case something doesn’t go well…

Here we leave you the download link in case you want to try it now, we will do it shortly and we will tell you what we have found:

Changing the Boot Logo…

Before going to bed we couldn’t avoid tinkering around a bit, and although we’re not Hackers, we’ve changed the Startup Logo (although later it continues to show us Anbernic’s).
Using a play on words, with great affection towards the console on which its design is based, we have decided to name it as MEGA BOY and this is the result:

We leave you here the .bmp file in case you want to use it. (You need to compress it to GZIP, with the name boot_logo.bmp.gz):

We Have It!

Today, after 13 days of travel, the expected RG35XX that we bought on the day of its launch has brought us by mail.
After seeing a multitude of videos and images about it, and waiting for a firmware update or some Custom Firmware to come out, we have started to investigate what comes on the card…

We have found 4 Linux partitions, 2 of them currently inaccessible to us, and the other 2, in one of them we have the ROMS that the machine brings by default (99.99% of them in Chinese) and in the other several files of system, to which we can do little. At the moment we can change the Boot Logo, the Recovery logo, the image for when it is loading, and the images of the loading phase.
We’ll keep messing around to see what else we find out…

Download Retroarch for RG35XX Now Available!

Yesterday we talked about how after the holidays Black Seraph was going to allow us to download what he has achieved, making Retroarch work on the machine, today he surprises us with a link to download it TOTALLY FREE from one of his pages, where in addition to teaching us how to install it, it will offer us updates.

Retroarch On RG35XX

After the first disappointments with the console’s operating system, due to scaling issues and other fronting failures more than anything, and while we wait for the first software update that Anbernic has promised, the user Black Seraph has been able to get Retroarch working directly. in the machine from the boot, giving us the possibility of using more emulators, more options like scaling and more. He promises that after the holidays he will be available.

     It leaves us this image:
